Youth and Teen Swim Team

The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA Breakers Swim Team is a year-round competitive swim program with over 50 years of proud tradition in the Grand Traverse area. As both a YMCA and USA Swimming club, Breakers offers high-quality coaching and technique instruction for swimmers of all ages and abilities—from first-time competitors to national-level athletes.

But Breakers is more than just a swim team. Rooted in the YMCA mission, we’re committed to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering social responsibility. We create a fun, supportive environment where swimmers grow not only in the pool, but also as individuals and teammates.

Whether your swimmer is just starting out or aiming for the podium, Breakers builds strong athletes—and a stronger community.

Swimmers in these groups pay an annual registration fee, a USA Swimming membership fee, and monthly training fees. All Breakers must meet volunteer and fundraising requirements and maintain a Y membership.
